Most hiking trails in Jasper National Park welcome dogs, provided they are on a leash at all times. We suggest the following trails for a wholesome hike with your four-legged friend:
- Maligne Canyon
- Pyramid Lake Loop
- Valley of the Five Lakes
- Old Fort Point
- Lac Beauvert Loop
- Whistler Mountain
- Jasper Lake
- Palisade Lookout
- Jasper House
- Wilcox Pass & Viewpoint
There are some trails in Jasper where dogs are not allowed (even on a leash) because the area encroaches on endangered caribou territory. Leave your pooch at home or with the dog-sitter if you plan on doing any of these hikes: Leach Lake cross-country ski trail, Skyline Trail, Tonquin Valley, Cavell Meadows Trail, Bald Hills, and Opal Hills.
Off-Leash Dog Park
The off-leash area is located at the corner of Highway 93A and Sleepy Hollow Road. The off-leash area can be accessed on foot from downtown Jasper via the pedestrian underpass at the end of Hazel Avenue. A Recreational Vehicle (RV) parking lot is also located directly across from the facility for easy access.
